IT'S A FAT, FAT, FAT, FAT WORLD
Obesity in America has doubled in the last 20
years................and tripled for children and
teenagers. We are the most obese country in the
world, and it's not even close. If you've been
increasing your protein, and lowering your carbs to
lose weight, how can you now reduce your fat
intake? Let me count the
ways.............
Cut fat calories to 20-30% of your total
calories. Most Americans are eating 40% fat.
Use Pam non-stick cooking spray instead of
frying food in oils. Oil has 11 grams of fat per
tablespoon!
For every 4-6 eggs, eat only 1 yolk. Egg
whites are fat-free. Egg yolks have all the fat in an
egg.
Choose white meat poultry (the breast). Dark
meat poultry (the wing, the leg) is similar to red meat
in its fat content.
When eating red meat, choose the leanest
cuts. Top round, bottom round, eye of round, 95%
lean ground beef, and even sirloin are much leaner
than prime rib, filet mignon, NY strip streak, and
porterhouse.
Eliminate foods that are 100% fat or close to
it (oils, butter, mayonnaise, gravies, regular salad
dressings, cheeses)
Choose skim or 1% milk products over 2% or
whole milk products. Two percent milk is actually
37% fat!
Eat 5-6 small meals a day to improve
metabolism and reduce fat storage.
Eat breakfast! It means "breaking the fast,"
and if you don't do it, you will load up on calories
later on with two gutbusting meals.
Do your aerobic / cardio. exercise when
blood sugar is LOW (first thing in the morning, AFTER
weight training, or several hours after your last
meal). Blood sugar needs to be low for the body to
tap into its fat stores for energy.
